Zion Helicopter Adventure Elopement | Rachael + Lee

couple standing in zion on their elopement day

This was an adventure elopement for the books! Of all the years we've spent exploring Zion from the ground, we were not prepared for how incredible it was going to be to get to see it from the sky! Jordan, our rad helicopter tour pilot, flew us over the peaks of Zion, showed us hidden valleys, arches, and even flew through a little bit of rain. As we flew along he pointed out notable features, told local stories, and helped us spot wildlife. After a mindblowing aerial tour, we landed on a private butte in the Virgin River Valley with an expansive view of Zion that is only accessible by helicopter. Jordan poured us all some champagne courtesy Zion Helicopters and we got to work capturing the incredible beauty around us with Rachael and Lee! The weather really went all out for us, not only did we get gorgeous light to show off the scenery, but we were blessed with a rainbow and a full moon! As the sun began to set, we concluded our session and headed back to the helicopter to begin our short flight back to the terminal. Jordan queued up Intro by M83 over the in-flight speakers and proceeded to pull of the most perfectly timed departure to correspond perfectly with the drop in the song. It gave us all full body chills and perfectly concluded the most incredible experience.

The following day, we met back up with Rachael and Lee and their closest friends and family for their elopement ceremony. We took them to a beautiful spot along the Virgin River with views of Zion's peaks in the background (and our private butte from the day before). Surrounded by the friends and family, they exchanged their vows and got married!

Since we took full advantage of Zion's huge vistas during their helicopter tour, we decided to show them some of Zion's more intimate corners. We started their portraits in one of our favorite slot canyons. In this one area, we got to show them both the tight and twisting canyon and the wider, more cavernous canyons you can see in Zion. We then took them to a little spot in the middle of Zion majestic main canyon for the most incredible sunset colors surrounded by the towering sandstone walls.

This is one of the reasons we love getting to spend multiple days with couples. It allows for one day of whatever kind of adventure you are down for, and then one day to focus on the ceremony and exploring other corners of an area. If you are debating between inviting people or not to your elopement, you can also consider inviting your guests to just one of the days, so you still have plenty of alone time just the two of you to celebrate.

a few words from Rachael and Lee

Kyle and Tori are two of the most incredible people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting! They are kind, funny, thoughtful, honest and truly imaginative and it all shows in their photographs. Our time with these guys was so relaxed and fun - it felt like we were just out hiking with friends who liked to take a lot of pictures! Not only are they amazing people but their photography is Mind. Blowing. They listened to everything we wanted and made literal magic happen. These two made my husband and I look like absolute stars! I would recommend Kyle and Tori to everyone I know. We love you guys!!!!
