Grand Staircase-Escalante Monument Elopement | Lindsay + Alex

Lindsay and Alex's day was one of those days that started with a potential for rain and some scary looking storm clouds. Slot canyons and washes are the last places you want to be in a rain storm, so we kept a close eye on the weather. All signs showed the storm moving away from us and the watershed that would feed the canyon we were heading to, so we decided to go for it. The storm continued to move away from us and the lingering clouds gave us the most epic light! It was a real win-win.

The two of them changed into their clothes in separate corners of the canyon. This little corner of Utah's desert made for the perfect space to have a private first look with only the rock walls (and maybe a photographer or two) as their witness. We explored together into the canyon, marveling at the twists, turns, and the incredibly tall walls that create the narrow passage and highlight the power of water in the desert.

We concluded our private portrait session in the slot canyon and hiked back out to meet up with Lindsay and Alex's friends and family for their ceremony.

Lindsay and Alex's ceremony was incredibly special. They incorporated their love for rafting by constructing an arbor out of oars. Their good friend played music while everyone set up and played a special number for them during the ceremony. Lindsay's mom accompanied her and her dad to the ceremony all while playing her ukulele. Their friend officiated and at the culmination of the ceremony, all of their friends and family cheered, each with their respective noise makers. It was a beautiful and such a privilege to be a part of!

After the ceremony, everyone hung out and enjoyed the charcuterie set up nearby in the calm desert evening. As the sun began to set, we took Lindsay and Alex for a few more portraits around their ceremony location before we packed everything up and hiked back out.

A few words from the couple

Gorgeous photos, captured us in our best light literally. Having their support with permits, timing and tracking the weather kept our stress level low. Also, they gave us great posing direction and took some great candid shots. They were incredibly flexible to changes in our schedule and a joy to be around. Kyle and Tori made the whole experience unforgettable - huge success. All our friends are jealous.
